Republic Services, HomeSight Partner to Strengthen Seattle Community through Small Business Revitalization Projects
Republic Services Charitable Foundation announces $105,000 grant to support critical repairs to 10 locally owned businesses
As an essential service provider, Republic Services has been committed to serving our customers and our communities during this challenging time.

SEATTLE (Jan. 15, 2021) – HomeSight has received a grant from the Republic Services Charitable Foundation to support the revitalization of locally owned small businesses that have experienced disruption during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The $105,000 grant is part of Republic Services' Committed to Serve initiative, which was launched last spring to help support the Company's employees, customers and communities through the pandemic. HomeSight is one of eight local affiliates of NeighborWorks America to receive funding through the program.

"We’re proud to be providing funds and other resources to HomeSight to support small businesses and our local economy,” said Jeff Nguyen, general manager of Republic Services in Seattle.

With the help of this funding, HomeSight is expanding the organization's scope to provide critical support and repairs to 10 minority-owned businesses in the historically underserved neighborhood of Southeast Seattle.

"The pandemic has been incredibly difficult on our local business community," said Darryl Smith, executive director of HomeSight. "Partnering with the Republic Services Charitable Foundation to support these small businesses is crucial in helping to further spread our mission. HomeSight is honored to have played a role in this important effort."

HomeSight will be helping with repairs and renovation projects that will help each business survive the COVID-19 pandemic and thrive beyond this unexpected challenge.

Launched in April 2020, Committed to Serve is a $20 million initiative to recognize Republic's frontline employees and help support small businesses at the heart of local economies.

"As an essential service provider, Republic Services has been committed to serving our customers and our communities during this challenging time," said Nguyen. "The heart of our organization is community-based. In the wake of the pandemic, we know that helping small business owners is one of the best ways to support our communities."

Through this initiative, Republic has provided $3 million in grants to three nonprofit partners, which funded 29 local affiliates across the country to support small business revitalization projects.
